He isn't like Lance, who can just take to new situations and new people like he's always been a part of them. And he isn't like Shiro, haunted by both ghosts and memories. It's because sleep is the absence of activity. There's nothing to do with his hands. There's nothing to practice, no target to engage, no skills to train up. He may not be a restless personality by nature but he's always been task-oriented; find a direction and stick to it.

There's an army out there waiting for them, and they aren't just sitting by either- they're turning their attention to other planets, other populations- they're actively looking for a way to make the threat of Voltron's existence obsolete. He doesn't know how to just fall asleep knowing that.
